Every Clinic Needs an In-house Radiologist

Our board-certified veterinary radiologists deliver custom radiology reports, personally prepared and signed, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Vetology’s services are tailored to handle single-region radiographs efficiently. This focus reduces costs for clinics and pet owners without compromising diagnostic accuracy.

Why Single-Region Matters:

    • Faster Turnarounds: Single-region radiographs simplify the interpretation process, allowing radiologists to focus on detailed analysis of the targeted area.
    • Align with Clinical Signs: Focusing the radiograph on a specific region helps the radiologist provide a report tailored to your clinical observations and specific question. This focused approach can reduce diagnostic costs for pet owners, leaving more funds available for treatment.
    • Comfort During Imaging: Limiting the procedure to one region can reduce the amount of manipulation or restraint needed, keeping the patient more comfortable.

Veterinary teleradiology services and single region reads are available to all Vetology clients, whether or not your practice is exploring AI radiology reports.

Top FAQs About Our AI Services

Teleradiology services for your practice should be fast, reliable, and easy to use.  Vetology's team of board certified radiologists, platform, and support team checks all those boxes.

How accurate is AI veterinary radiology?

Vetology's AI veterinary radiology publishes condition-by-condition accuracy data with sensitivity and specificity for every classifier. The heart failure classifier achieves 89.5% sensitivity validated across 10,951 cases, with similar published metrics for cardiomegaly, pleural fluid, hepatomegaly, and 80+ other conditions.

We are the ONLY veterinary AI solution that publishes our metrics. We believe transparency is the only way to build trust: full performance data is available at vetology.net/ai-classifier-performance.

Does Vetology AI replace veterinarians or radiologists?

No. Vetology's AI is decision support, not a verdict. Every AI screening report supports the veterinarian's clinical interpretation; the veterinarian can disagree, edit, or set aside any finding based on their judgment.

For complex cases or specialist confirmation, board-certified veterinary radiologists are available through the same platform, with routine teleradiology in approximately 24 hours and stat reads in approximately 2 hours.

Vetology's philosophy: humans and AI are better together.

Can AI reports streamline referrals to radiologists?

Yes! Vetology AI helps optimize referrals by identifying an area of interest. Here's how it would work in practice:

  • Pre-Screen with AI: Vetology AI streamlines routine case management by analyzing radiographs and identifying clear-cut findings. This enables you to address straightforward cases directly, reducing unnecessary specialist referrals.
  • Refer More Complex Cases: If AI detects atypical findings, or your professional expertise suggests the AI report is reporting a false positive or false negative, submit your radiographs to a radiologist and leverage the AI report to ask focused questions about an area of concern.  This helps the radiologist focus on specific concerns and deliver a comprehensive review tailored to your questions.
  • Cost and Efficiency Benefits: Vetology AI can also help manage costs associated with STAT reads. If the AI report suggests a non-life-threatening condition, you can avoid a STAT report, initiate treatment and request a normal read.  This allows the owner to redirect those savings toward patient care.

This collaborative workflow saves time and ensures resources are allocated effectively, benefiting both your team, your radiologists, and your clients.

How quickly are the AI reports generated?

They are typically ready within minutes of image submission. By the time your patient is off the table, the report is usually ready.

Results appear directly in your Vetology dashboard. They can also be emailed to multiple email addreses, and integrated with your PMS.

How does your software connect with ours, and what patient information does it capture?

Our platform streamlines the process of generating radiology reports by connecting directly with your clinic's digital imaging system. This setup allows DICOM images to be automatically pushed to Vetology without the need for manual uploads or direct integration with a PACS.

Only the DICOM information embedded in the case is captured by the transfer.  This reduces the need for additional data entry and ensures radiology reports are accurately matched to the correct patient and case.

How is Vetology's AI trained, and what data does it use?

Vetology's AI classifiers are trained on a foundation of 300,000 multi-image patient cases from real clinical radiographs, all labeled against board-certified veterinary radiologist consensus. Every classifier is validated against this radiologist gold standard before release, and Vetology publishes the sample size, sensitivity, and specificity for every condition. Classifiers are retrained regularly as the dataset grows, with new classifiers released monthly.

Full training and performance data is at vetology.net/ai-classifier-performance.

Why We Publish Our Accuracy Data

You can't responsibly use a screening tool you can't audit.

That's why Vetology publishes condition-by-condition sensitivity, specificity, and validation sample sizes for every classifier on the platform.

A 2026 Frontiers in Veterinary Science audit of 71 commercial veterinary AI products found that 63% of vendors disclosed zero validation metrics publicly (Brundage 2026).

We chose to blaze a path and publish.

Veterinarians who lead with their own read use that data to understand when AI adds confidence and when a case warrants additional scrutiny.

Transparency is how we earn the trust of clinicians who can spot when AI is wrong. It's also how we stay accountable to the standards of the profession.

How does Vetology Compare to other Veterinary AI radiology products?

Vetology is one of only a few AI imaging companies that publishes condition-by-condition accuracy data. Our published performance metrics include sensitivity, specificity, and sample sizes for every classifier, allowing veterinarians to evaluate performance before they subscribe.

A 2026 Frontiers in Veterinary Science audit of 71 commercial veterinary AI products found that 63% of vendors disclosed zero validation metrics publicly (Brundage 2026).

Beyond transparency, Vetology combines AI screening and board-certified and board-eligible radiologist teleradiology on one platform, so practices can escalate any case to a specialist with one click.

What's Actually in a Vetology AI Report

Every Vetology AI screening report contains three things, in this order:

    • Conclusions. A structured summary of what the AI sees as significant, written in clinical language a doctor can act on.
    • Recommendations. Suggested next steps. Additional imaging, follow-up timing, or escalation to a board-certified radiologist when the case warrants it.
    • Findings. What the AI identified in the radiograph, mapped to the 91+ conditions Vetology screens for. Each finding is paired with the classifier's published sensitivity and specificity.

What the report does not include, by design: differentials and treatment plans.

Differentials require clinical history, physical exam findings, and the kind of patient context that lives only in the veterinarian's head. Treatment planning requires judgment we don't believe an AI should make.

Both belong to the veterinarian. The AI supports those decisions; it doesn't try to make them.

What does Vetology's AI Report workflow look like in practice?

On a Busy Day, Minutes Add Up

The AI screens all patient radiographs for all regions within five to ten minutes of completing the study.  It returns findings, conclusions, and recommendations before the patient is back in the room with the owner.

The veterinarian compares the AI's read against their own. Agrees or disagrees. Builds the differential. Moves to the next case.

On a routine day, that's a small efficiency. On a thirty-patient day, it's the difference between leaving on time and not.

When the case isn't routine, the AI report becomes a starting point for a conversation.

The veterinarian can escalate to teleradiology with one click.

    • Routine board-certified reads in approximately 24 hours.
    • Stat reads in approximately 2.

For non-radiograph modalities (CT, MRI, ultrasound), the same teleradiology service is available 24/7. Small animals, large animals, exotics, reptiles, and avian patients.

Does Vetology work with my PACS, PIMS, and x-ray equipment?

Yes. Vetology is technology-agnostic and works with any DICOM-compatible x-ray equipment. Veterinary practices can use Vetology's free PACS or auto-send from any existing PACS.

On the practice management side, Vetology integrates with Daysmart, ezyvet, and VetRocket (with more on the way). We also integrate with CoVet, ScribbleVet and HappyDoc AI scribes. Most practices are running within an hour, and Vetology's team handles the setup and training online, at no additional cost.

A Quiet Win for Practices That Mentor

Senior veterinarians in busy practices often carry two jobs at once. Their own caseload, and the unofficial training of newer associates.

Both jobs are important work. Together, they're exhausting.

Vetology AI can take some of the weight off that second job without taking the mentorship away.

Newer associates read the AI report first. They sit with the findings and conclusions. They bring focused questions to a senior vet for confirmation or explanation.

Pattern recognition develops faster when every study comes with a structured screening result to compare your thinking against.

The senior vet's role shifts. Less involvement in every read. More coaching on the cases that matter. Which is the work most senior clinicians wanted to be doing in the first place.

For practice managers, this is the kind of growth-supporting tool that's actually measurable.

New associates close the gap to confident, independent reads sooner. Senior staff get back to clinical leadership instead of burning energy on screening every routine thorax.

Job satisfaction goes up at both ends of the experience spectrum. That's the only kind of staffing gain that holds.

"AI handles the routine pattern check. The veterinarian handles the differential, the plan, and the conversation with the family. That's the right division of labor."

And when the senior vet isn't available? Vetology's support team is.

Reach out anytime you'd like quick guidance. We'll loop in our in-house board-certified radiologists for confirmatory input, often at no additional charge.

Pattern recognition from the AI. Judgment from a human. A support team that picks up the phone when a clinician needs it.

Who in a veterinary practice can use Vetology AI radiology?

    The entire practice team.

Veterinary technicians take radiographs and can submit later to telerad if needed, we encourage you to use our support team for positioning and image quality guidance.

DVMs, associates, and new graduates use the AI report's structured findings, conclusions, and recommendations as a starting point for their own interpretations.
